Arty, Jon made the pattern for my early LBSC grease axlebox. Jon is too polite to say, but the castings are less than perfect and need work to use. In fact I am just looking for the pattern to try another firm.

Richard, I can see the holes in the 'bottom planking' that should line up with the underframe - is there an underframe there or is it left to ones imagination? I've not seen one of these opens 'flipped', so to speak.

Though going back & looking at the photo I can't see any frame 'woodwork' but you may have fitted that already...…?

And then I engaged brain...…. of course it's not there, you wouldn't be able to fit the W-irons otherwise...… Doh!!!!! Very senior blonde moment.....?!?! Sorry, pass me my coat & hat...…

Actually Baz there is a ghost underframe.
Looking at the view underneath, you can see how the cut stops where the frame would be.

So when you look from the top, you can see an image of the frame - bit difficult to take a pic, but you can see through a couple of the plank gaps.

I have some of those little blue clamps and I could do with some more. Can you remember where you got them from?

I bought those from a tool trader at the Model Engineering exhibition at the Fosse last year, but they are available from Amazon and various traders on EBay.
Good clamps - never have enough.

Ordered some from ebay yesterday. If I had read Geoff's post earlier, I would have looked in the pound shop today as I was in town, hey ho.

One or two small bubbles on the hinge Richard. Next time let me do them in my vacuum tank, or come here and do them. Either is f.o.c!

I've got a vac system Mike, but I need to make some more moulds before I do a run of the ironwork castings and some other bits.
The ones tacked onto the wagon was to check the mould worked.

Aha! Found evidence of someone working on Sixteen Mills enlargements

Very impressed by the ease of assembly but i've been umming and ahhing about using the provided strapping templates and some of the running gear stuff so this is very useful to see, look forward to further updates

The wagons are progressing, struggling to find some suitable transfers/rubdown lettering to put "BALLAST" on the side.
Letraset has become a collectors item and most of what is around are cut vinyl letters - not suitable.
Powsides apparently do some suitable, but in G1.

This picture has turned up - not sure of its origins, apart from a thread on RM web, apologies if I have transgressed.
A great pic, very useful.

Doesn't quite capture the "atmosphere" yet, quite a bit of weathering to go.


I have now some correct LBSC axleboxes courtesy of Williams Models so I can then cover them with some tatty pieces of canvas.
And have also acquired 3 more wagons to make a rake of 8 - what am I thinking of !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Them's nice Richard. What're you going to pull them with? Assume the Mid Wales brake is going at one end?

A bit 'off track' but that white pipe running along the back/above the bench - wotisit? Ventilation - does it suck or blow?
