I hope everyone got home safely who went to the show today. It was good to meet all the WT'ers

Did everyone get what they went for, more importantly, what were the impulse purchases? What were the highlights and lowlights?

Had a very enjoyable.... Hang on, no rephrase that..expensive day at the show..

Highlight was definitely picking up the castings for the K2 which I've been waiting for, for about 2 years..!!

Good chat at the lunchtime meet up, and put a few new faces to names, along with the golden oldie WT'ers..

Don't know if I'm a golden oldie WT'er :)).........but it was great to meet up with all the Thunderers :D.........I think I managed to blow about £15, probably my all time lowest spend, but no reflection on a great show with lots of interesting stuff to see :)

Had a great day out. I worked out that 11 members of the Heyside Group attended. It was good to meet up with everyone again - and meet new WTers.

I made no impulse purchases, just picked up things ordered beforehand - 2 motors from ABC and bearings from Meteor. One Heysider bought a very passable 2P which will be nice with a little work to the break gear.

JB,
Surely the high light was the pound box of goodies we found at the end of the day:rolleyes:

Good day all round nice to meet up with the WT crowd and saw Steph's coaches in the flesh, superb mate:bowdown: that's given me inspiration for my own stock when I get round to building them:thumbs:

I spent a bit on cast wheels for the B17, so we'll see how they clean up later

Was a nice little show, first time I've ever been, almost makes me want to go back to 7mm Lol, all those lovely kits :), tried most major kit builders if they'd consider 1:32 scale ups, or even 10mm, same answer except one tentative maybe but at a premium price for a one off, so, scratch build it is then!. Only met a few as a late arrival to the WT party, long chat with Steph about Plasticard building and core structures, its always obvious when some one else points out what may be a better option of doing things LOL. Pretty cheap day, only a couple of books, LMR locos of course :). Can't remember who I met, apologies, Richard, Steph, Derby line? & others LOL.

It did however kick the old grey cells into high gear for possible other projects or Class 40 Mk III :), so worth the 4hr round trip, topped off by a sunny hour at St Neots on a whim (mainly caused by A14 diversion) just watching ultra modern stuff hammer through :).

I wasn't going to go, but suffered a last minute change of heart. Didn't get much - a freebie from Jim @ Connoisseur - no, not a B12 kit :)) - but one of his new sprung suspension units with inside bearings for 3' 7" diameter wheels, suitable for both 0F and the S7 mob. If he gets some good feedback he'll consider doing some units for 3' 1" wagon wheels too. They look quick and easy to assemble so I'll knock a set out one lunchtime this week. The only thing I bought was another GNR bow-ended wagon off the Ace stand (ex-W&CW - possibly ex-Tim Hughes?). Good to meet up with the WTers, though didn't get to speak to all of you - twice went to see Steph on the Technical stand to say 'wotcha' but he was engrossed with punters on both occasions. Next time! Between the West Mersea Mob and the Heyside Crew there must have been enough of us to put out two full teams for a game of footie.

...mainly caused by A14 diversion...

Ah yes, the diversion. That sent me down the A1, but where I was supposed to come off a lorry had shunted a car into the central reservation and four cars behind stacked into each other, blocking the exit slip road. I must have missed it by minutes, so was glad to have paid a visit to the gents before leaving!

Good to see the WT crowd today, got everthing I wanted, regarding impulse buys, am afraid I fell into the trap and overspent my intended budget, but what the heck, have to start saving for Telford now.

Too true to be fair.. but can't forget my most endearing purchase... A replacement for my 8 year old iron sponge !

I never thought I would see that day that Jim did something vaguely for S7 haha..

The only thing I bought was another GNR bow-ended wagon off the Ace stand.

Ace? Ace?? Really???!

Only problem is, what I'm thinking of is going to be right on the edge of the box for Plasticard/ mixed media modeling lol, I did skirt the idea to a few at the show and the twitched raised eyebrow, half step backward followed by polite knowing smile means I am really on the fringe to seasoned veteran modelers <grin>.

My massive purchases were some buffer steps for the 121, some 'Express Dairy' etches for my forthcoming milk tanks & some class 33 cabs from a fellow WT'er...........oh & a very kindley trader gave me a very nice battery box for my MTH BG.......last of the big spenders :))
