Greetings all

I have watched this site for quite a while, know a few of you on it, but been nervous about putting anything on it.

My interests are S7, a bit of 16mm NG, flight simulator, model ships (less so now) and a glass of red wine.

My past S7 builds have generally been of the pre-grouping era but, thanks to my introduction to DCC by Richard Carr and his diesels on Croscombe Magna, I am moving into the (nearly) modern age but going for the BR green period. This is because I am someway into building a Coronation, City of Coventry, in BR red so I am going for 1963 or 1964 ish.

I am currently building a MMP 13 ton wagon (more below) but a bit restricted by current circumstances. I am very impressed with this kit, so much so I have persuaded wifey to buy me one of Davids' 08 kits for my birthday. Currently using a temporary workbench, most tools, lathe and milling machine in storage.

Pictures may accompany this but not yet convinced, otherwise will follow.

Ken

Welcome Ken, super work on the wagon. I'm in the green diesel camp too, but I fear we may be slightly outnumbered...

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am acquainted with some of you through the S7 society.

Many thanks to Mickoo for pointing me in the right direction for the 08 S7 axles at Brightwell. They have now arrived and wheels gone off to Colin Dowling for reprofiling. ABC motor and bearbox on order.

As far as the wagon is concerned is it something that would be of interest as a build log, I can't find another? and would Area 51 be the right forum?

Welcome. I for one would be interested to see one of the MMP 13T wagon kits being built. Area 51 is the right place for this, and lots of other interesting things.

I have never yet been convinced by etched brass for wooden wagon bodies - mainly due to the oversize 'planking' joint lines that result from thick brass being used. DJP's laminated thinner brass may solve this problem.

Hello Ken,

that is one way of stopping your wagon body from falling off the work bench just pin it to it.

Welcome on board,

OzzyO.

PS. don't forget square nuts on wooden wagons.

And another interested party here Ken (Welcome by the way:thumbs:) . I should have had one of these in my stash but managed to order the wrong one from David and ended up with a steel mineral instead.... Which I will enjoy building anyway.

Welcome ken and what a way to make a first impression, you have single handedly solved modellers problems a truck and a hairbrush in one, you will make millions, well as except from the balding ones, lol

Welcome to the group. Just remember to post plenty of pictures and you will fit in perfectly.

Another S7er, ploughing his lonely furrow on the other side of the ditch. Great for the glass of red though.
