... This is Priestfield Junction ....another shot that can't be improved from grotty.
I could well imagine the photographer having a late night in the nearby pub and arriving back at the station only to miss the last train home - this is how he would have seen the view as he was rudely woken on the bench by the first morning train and grabbed a quick snap.

I hadn't had my first pint at 14 ( when the pic was taken) but at 15 I had!

I never said 7ft radius was sharp in model terms. I said the Priestfield curve was sharp in 12 inches to the foot terms for a Main Line. I thought I had implied it looked about the same as my model. However Priestfield would have been greater than 22 chains (which is about 9ft radius in 00).

Since when has 7ft radius classed as a 'sharp curve' in model railway terms??!! :D

A mate of mine grew up in Wolverhampton around that time, he'd have been familiar with all these scenes  .
7 feet in 1/43.5 is 304.5 feet full size (and the number of mm in a foot)

”Minimum Radius dead slow: 2 chains” is 44 yards or 132 feet (3’ in 7mm).

bonkers tight curves on UK standard gauge seem to be 60m or so: 180-200feet. (4’6” in 7mm)

Peco streamline points are something like 5’6”.

7’ sounds anything but sharp to me. Unless you’re working in 3.5” gauge of course…

Fair do's, you were there capturing everyday workings, unlike the guys who started just before the end of steam. A box camera usually used 120 film, however, shop processors often over cooked negs.
