Hi a
I won’t call myself a “defector” from the other side, just that this forum appeals to me. I have been lurking around and having a look for the last few months, but as yet, I have not posted so I think its time to introduce myself.
Well I have been messing around with this train stuff for some 40 years and have had a go at anything from RTR n gauge to 16mm live steam. My present layouts are Glenuig, EM West Highland 1980’s, and Charwel Drynogyth, an 0-16.5 minimal space slate quarry. These two layouts are at present on the exhibition circuit, and while they are doing the rounds, I am building a model of Bridge of Orchy in N gaugeish, and just to add, I have a sizable 00 layout called “Over Haddon” set in the Peak district in the 1930’s, I think that’s enough to be going on with!.
My professional job, I am the electrical engineer for one of the last Black Country iron foundries, and have now worked for the same company for 34 years!.
Oh yes, in my spare time, I am a working and committee member of the Class Forty Appeal, owners of D212 Aureol, 37190, and 50007 Sir Edward Elgar.
I have a very understanding long time partner, Janice!

Hello and welcome, this is the best modelling forum going so you are loikely to enjoy the topics.

Whatever you contribute, say it with photos.

Whatever you model, fine for most of us although we have to make exceptions for the Blue Brigade.

Well, thanks all for the warm welcome, and is seem to have walked straight into a forum debate, blue or green? green for the 40, blue for the 37, then its 50/50 for the other.
I am rather busy at the mo, but when i get the weekend over, Maccelsfield show with the slate quarry, i will sort a few phots out.
Happy modeling
Gary
