Hoping to get there. Convenient for me and always enjoyable.
No Gauge 3 Midlands Group stand this year as I've had too many distractions from a demanding 9 1/2 month old daughter to get it organised!!

Looks likely that I can make it up John, it'll be good to catch up with you and Arty (plus that little G1 flight of fancy - I owe you an operating break too!). That bookseller bloke is threatening to join in too :D

Is the demonstrator Ian Thompson the G3 French layout/stock builder? The name rings a bell from a G3 AGM a couple of years ago and his stuff was very tasty indeed :)

Looking forward to catching up on some G3 stuff.

I'll be there Steve, building some G3 stuff and flogging a few books and some of my excess 4mm RTR :)

G'day Steve . to be honest I don't know about IanThompson other that he's doing a demo . As to 'operating breaks' believe me you won't want to do it.......watch a bit of paint dry instead....it's more interesting :))

Ah, a different one, I shall still stop by for a look-see though. Thanks for the feedback.

You've got points and everything though :))

It'll keep me happy for half an hour whilst you grab a bite to eat :)

Hopefully I'll be visiting too, complete with a travelling Ruston and Manning Waddle. I'm just negotiating my pass out from Marshcastleshire, the "bus" is at least now MOT'd and taxed:thumbs:

I'm looking forward to it, it's a show I've really enjoyed as both a visitor and an exhibitor - a really good "builders" show and friendly with it:)

I have now dipped my toe, so to speak, I now need various items & this show sounds like it would provide several suppliers of interest... Connoisseur, Metalsmith, Slaters & Squires spring straight to mind.

I had a really great day at this show. An early start and good run saw me at Cookies place by ten am (yes, he was surprised too) and we then travelled up together. After a splendid day at the show we retired to the "Black Swan" with Arty and John and Rachael Taylor, and eventually headed back south in the wee small hours after a Chinese take away and much discussion about trains and other stuff back at Arty's place - thanks very much Richard:thumbs:

The show was its usual friendly and interesting mix and we saw lots of familiar faces. There was also quite a bit of shopping done, I came away with some Evergreen half bead strip with which to finish my old coach, a magnifying daylight lamp jobbie and one of Lionheart's magnificent mineral wagons, which is sadly too small for my tracks but will be a useful aide memoire if/when I make a pattern to try and resin cast mineral wagons in 1/32 scale (what a dreamer:rolleyes: )

I'm afraid my pictures only cover one layout, John Dale's 1/32 scale "Jubilee Sidings" a delightful and truly manageable piece of industrial railway real estate, which I got to play with and which has set me thinking about shop window displays, Rustons and seagulls.....

First up, ages ago I cast some birds from the seagull that my uncle Colin carved for Pomparles Siding, this resulted in several mis-shapen lumps of vaguely avian character, one of which I had sent to John as a bit of a joke and/or challenge.

Here he is sitting atop the water tank on Jubilee Sidings engine shed, complete with beak, legs, webbed feet and something else too....

While I was at the show I witnessed the reunion of long lost twin brothers who hadn't seen each other since the last show(!), Trevor Cousens and John Dale stand by the layout...

Some train pictures coming up shortly - honest:))

Cracking photos Simon including a 'rare' shot of me smiling :)).........though when it was taken I'd had a morning layout operating and thus past caring:)). The seagull will have to find a new perch as the loco shed is down to be replaced by another warehouse , it's a waste of a siding as the loco never had any time to be in there during the show;)

We reckon it was just trapped wind :D

It was a top show, lots of friends to catch up with, a quick 10 minute operating stint on John's layout and a good shopping session to stock up on materials and consumables ready for the winter. There was a good G3 undercurrent throughout the show for me too, I purchased some of AndyB's etched nuts, got a couple of brake vans and managed to chat a few G3 people I hadn't seen for ages. In fact I talked that much I didn't do very well on the photo front, but managed to get a few

G3 by Dave Walker. Scheduled to receive working brakes and a (model) driver operated reversing linkage all via RC control. The tender holds 12 C type batteries and all of the radio gear - the tool boxes open to reveal the on/off switch and the charging jack.

and one of John's earlier projects, a Gauge 1 Crewe Goods. Can't remember the builders name, but I think there are photos on here from a previous Shepshed show with it running round in bare nickel silver, nice to see it in paint and clocking up the mileage

Tut Tut!....'tis not a Crewe Goods but a Crewe built single wheeler.....belonging to David Viewing who had the boiler/footplate unit from me that had lain in my loft for a bit , David finished it off with all of the rest of the bits and did a cracking paint job on it to boot . I had plans to do it as a follow up to my G1 Crewe Goods ,built a couple of test etches but could never get the loco to run properly ,great in reverse but forward :shit: , David re-jigged the chassis , fitted radio control gear in it and now it'll pull a sizeable train

We really enjoy this show each year. Everyone says how friendly it is, but its more than that. Its not aimed at families and maximum ticket sales, but at enthusiasts. The sales stand is not expensive and the sales good, but the main thing is the constant stream of interesting people to chat with.

To other small traders reading this - have a go next year. I can't guarantee a great profit but I am sure you'll enjoy yourselves.

Good to know who the builder is and the story behind it, cheers John
