The top rail of the picket fence at Cobbler's Cottage. I had to cut down some Ratio fencing to reduce its height and the glue failed. Fortunately it was lying on the lawn.

A most enjoyable day on Sunday exhibiting Helland Wharf at RMweb's SWAG gathering in Taunton. Pleased to say the layout behaved itself all day.

Rob @NHY 581 was kind enough to supply a guest locomotive for the day, his superbly weathered Hornby 08. D3509 is an appropriate choice as it spent virtually its whole life in Cornwall including a spell at St. Blazey from 1965 during which it no doubt visited Wenford at least once.





I've been looking out for one of these for ages but they appear as rare as hen's teeth so it was a great surprise when Rob spotted one on the B&B which I instantly snapped up.
It needs some serious weathering to match Rob's though.

As we enter the festive season it's time to offer the compliments of the season to all on Western Thunder once more.

Helland Wharf will be attending the following exhibitions in 2026:
January 10th Marlow & Maidenhead District MRC, Maidenhead.
January 17/18th Canterbury MRS, Canterbury.
March 7th Fens MRC, March.
May 23/24th Salisbury & South Wilts RS, The Thruxton Centre.
Hope to see some of you at one of these shows.

Plus I'm starting work on a new project after the holidays, look out for a new thread.

Have a great Xmas Break Mike, all your exhibitions are a bit off my patch but look forward to seeing it sometime.

A new permanent addition to the roster is D3509 which was a St Blazey resident during the latter part of my time frame. It's a Hornby one which turned up on the B&B at SWAG last year which Rob @NHY 581 has kindly done an excellent weathering job on it. Out of the box it was so clean you needed sunglasses to look at it!









A reminder that Helland Wharf is appearing at the Salisbury & South Wilts RS, show at the Thruxton Centre on May 23/24th.

Hi Mike,

Is it just the camera or is there a bow in the front coupling rod?

Yes there is a slight bow but it runs as sweet as a nut so I'm fearful of trying to straighten it in case I break it.
