Hello from a not too grumpy modeller!

Welcome to the forum, can't wait to see another Thumper built.
I'm afraid it won't be quite up to your standards Brian, although I have 'borrowed' a few of your ideas!!

Edit for first of a series of schoolboy error spelling mistakes!

welcome, glad to see another SR man aboard.

Hi Mike,
I am definitely a Western Region BR Diesel sort of chap, love Westerns Warships and Hymeks (But have a massive soft spot for the 1366 pannier tank) For some strange reason, I find myself drawn to some SR types. I love the rebuilt merchant Navy, Q1 and for some even more obscure reason, the Thumper! (Possibly from my childhood lapping up the Hydraulics and Blue Pullman at Reading General, while the thumper, well just thumped away !!
PS: my grandson calls me Grumps, and it has stuck!!:)

PPS...... Part of the reason I joined was to read your account of the MOK Q1 build, and I wasn't disappointed !! Wonderful.

Hi Grumps,

I think that I must be your mirror image - having been brought up deep in SR Eastern Section territory, I now find myself with WR diesels and coaching stock as my first 'port of call' as it were. Sandite bubble cars being a special favourite, along with 22s and 35s - oh and Inspection Saloons in general.

I look forward to seeing more of your photos.

I have built two MOK Q1s

I hope like them.

Hi Moysie,
Sorry your illness took you away from the job you loved.
Being blind in one eye prevented me from even starting a railway career.
At least we can play with our model trains!
