Hello from Hampshire

Hi,

Have been browsing the forum for a while now as I slowly transition from armchair to practical modelling and thought it about time I introduced myself. I have to say I have already found it a wonderful resource and it is great to see how people go out of their way to help others.

Like many others on here I modelled as a teenager and then other interests and life took over. Now having decided to renew my interest in the hobby I took some time deciding on scale, location and period. As seems to be the vogue at present, I was captivated by the scale and bulk of 7mm and decided in Scale7 (yes I am the "local S7 modeller" to Dog Star!) as it seemed as easy to work at the more accurate gauge as not and one of my areas of interest is track and signalling.

I am currently building a test track with single point and left Reading at the weekend with a couple of Slater's coaches and WEP wagon kits. Together with a Connoisseur Polly acquired earlier in the year, I have plenty to keep me busy for the time being while I continue to research my planned layout.

Regards,

Chris

Thanks all for the kind replies.

To answer Dog Star's cryptic questions - the plan is to model the original Henley in Arden station set in 1905-7.
The station opened in June 1894 at the end of a 3 mile branch from Rowington Junction on the Birmingham to Leamington line and closed to passenger services in July 1908 when the new (current) station was opened on the North Warwickshire line. Inspiration came from photos found on the excellent WarwickshireRailways.com pages.

Regards,

Chris

Welcome, Chris. Another S7 modeller doing Edwardian GWR (like me) is great news. I too have only recently vacated the armchair. I hope, by Christmas, to have finished enough carpentry to start laying track. Good luck with your loot from Reading.
