Hello from the other side of the World.

My name is Terry, and here in Perth, Western Australia we are greatly deprived in not having any Class 37s. We did have, (and still have one operational), three classes of locos powered by English Electric. (We classified them as C, G and Fs.) As a young fellow, I just loved, and still do, that special and totally unique growl they made. Being West Australian, it was our own version of "Western Thunder." One of my interests is in fitting my primary locomotives with Loksound decoders. I have assembled a Queensland Railways class 1300 class (English Electric), fitted it with a Bullant chassis from Hollywood foundry, and installed a South West Digital class 37 Loksound V4.0 decoder. Just love that sound it makes.

Hi down there,

Pikkies are the universal currency... closely followed by Tiffin and then Earl Grey.

You shall enjoy your time here, just like having a model railway club in your own workshop. So please tell us something about the direction in which you are heading, what period you are living and the colour of the motive power (that might cover some of the usual WT jokes / requests / interests).

BTW there are more of our family in Perth WA now than left in Europe so that may be an opportunity for ribald responses.

regards, Graham Beare

Welcome Terry,

The 1300 sounds interesting - is it 4mm?

Speak for yourself - you may enjoy the more fragrant tea darn sarf. Oops North a proper cuppa requires something stronger - Assam is a favourite of mine.

Most Queensland Railways modellers will end up in HO on 12mm track.... close enough for jazz with 3'6" track. I'm currently having corrupting thoughts about building some QR 1:48 stuff on S track, which is within a tenth of a millimetre of the right gauge. I fancy a 1620 and a 1720, and probably an obligatory DH class...

You think that's bad? I'm having thoughts of 7 1/4" gauge QR! It's a nice size, with that sort of ugly/rugged US narrow gauge thing going for it. Too many unfinished projects to go there though.

Oh yeah, weclome Terry :)
