Hi All,

Just a quick introduction from me, my name is Brian Hanson and I run a small model railway nameplate/detailing component company called Shawplan Model Products, specializing in the diesel and electric era of British Railways mainly in 2,4 and 7mm scales but have also been known to do one or two bits in the larger scales too.. ;)

At the risk of being thrown of the forum after my first post(!).. I model in P4 and have a particular interest in the finer engineering aspects of model diesel locomotive design from the fans on the roof to the bouncy springy bits underneath!.. but... wait for it... :shit: Eastern Region!..

I'll get me coat!.. Cheers ;D
Brian

(See Pugs.. I didn't mention Deltic's once!!  ;) ;D ;D)

Hi Brian

Welcome to the forum  :D ........psssssst don't tell anyone, but most of my spotting days were spent on the Eastern Region   ;D

P.S. Could I ask if you do thicker versions of the original Shawplan 7mm Hymek numbers now ?

Welcome aboard!

You are allowed to have Deltics on here (in P4?  ) just as long as they are BLUE and preferably Finsbury Park Racehourses - with White window surrounds...

Hi Phill, ..Its good to know I'm not the only one on here!..

I have just done the Hymek worksplates in 7mm and I am currently redrawing the numbers at the moment.. the originals were etched in .005" stainless steel but I will test them out in .010" and .012" and see how they turn out.. as a matter of interest, does anyone know what thickness the originals were?

Hi Brian, we did talk briefly on Saturday, but yo seemed pretty busy  :)) There is something of an Eastern thunder in certain parts of the forum  :)) We really do need some pictures though.
I did have the dimension for the Hymek numbers somewhere, but they are quite thick

My favourite Deltic is No. 15..... I like the fact I can use the word "is" with complete accuracy.... :D

I'm also often on-line here at Silly-o'clock in the morning, during break times at work... :-[

Hi Steve

They were all pretty special to me as a young impressionable teenager!.. I guess it was because when we were haulage bashing we always seemed to get certain locos turning up (usually a GD m/c and more often than not, No8!.. ;)) but never the ones we really wanted.. so when the elusive ones did turn up it was a real bonus! 8) ;D ;D ;D.. ultimate favorite?.. has to be No13  .. it was the last I needed for haulage, we were on an East Midlands 'Ranger' ticket in May '80 and 13 had been having its Rainhill treatment all week (unaware of this at the time), it was released to traffic on the next to last day.. we were on a 31 hauled train to Leicester from Peterborough when it pulled up along side us completely ex works  .. then opened up full power on both engines.. AWESOME!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D.. what made the week even better?.. I got my last Deltic haulage 'cop' the very next day! :D

Happy days indeed!

Cheers
Brian

Hi Brian

I don't have the Hymek number dimensions to hand as I'm on holiday at the moment, but double or slightly over thickness sounds about right to me.

Would it be possible to include more than four 'D's for those of us who lose the odd one in the carpet (never to be seen again )  :headbang:  :))

Hi Brian, welcome to the forum .Now then we seem to be talking "shake..shake...shake Eastern Region ..shake..shake " rather to frequent for my likeing  . I do hope we all see some light very soon :)) :)). Right i need to go and lie down in a dark room to get over my dizzy spell at typing , no not gonna do it again.
And no Jordan its not a dark "side" room :))

... and why not..??!!?? ::)  :vista:

Anyway from the standpoint of this Forum, Eastern region IS Dark Side, or Area 51 at least.... :)) I won't point out that the Deltic styling was heavily influenced by American locos of the time... oh bother ...  ;D

Brian is aiming to produce scale thickness Hymek numbers, if you read the earlier part of this thread the builders plates are mentioned I think.
