Hi

I am Derek Pollard from Suffolk. I model in 1/32, concentrating on BR era live steam with a difference. Following in the footsteps of my engineering guru, Chris Tolhurst of TME, I now aspire not only to have accurate and finely detailed models but to have scale cabs with working controls on as many of my live steam models as possible. The myth I have heard over and over again, that live steam and detail do not mix is just that - a myth. Nothing has fallen off yet!

Here is the latest completed project , 70007 - "Coeur de Lion" and my current ongoing project, an SECR C Class.

Hi Derek, and welcome to Western Thunder.

I read about your Brit conversion with much admiration on the G1 forum. It did do something I didn't think possible! Though I would be rather nervous about shortening the boiler.

Are you going to make them guess where you have hidden the pressure gauge:)

I hope you post frequent details of your work, as I am just at the very beginning of my venture into G1.

Yours

Richard

Welcome aboard Derek, its lovely to see some of your models on here.
I know your Warship will also go down well :)

Welcome! Where about are you in Suffolk!

I know someone here scratch building a 1/32 Deltic. I assume its not a miniature Diesel engine though.

This morning, despite reducing pictures to 800 X 600, I get the same error message as I had initially. I then tried loading again the pictures which were successfully uploaded yesterday and still got the same message.

"The uploaded file is empty", which it clearly isn't.

Any ideas anybody?

Hi Derek,

I use WT as a host, and find it very reliable.

At the end of the thread you are replying to, click Upload a file.
Locate file on your computer.
Double click on that file.
A small picture should then appear with thumbnail and full image buttons.
I prefer using full image which is clicked when the cursor is in the right place in the narrative box.
Click post reply when finished.

800 x 600 is fine as a picture size. If I want to show detail or think a picture is worth being shown larger, I go to a max of 1500 wide or 850 high whichever is relevant.

I'm assuming that your picture format is of a type suitable to upload to WT.

Hope this helps, and I'm not teaching granny to suck eggs.

Cheers

Richard

Hi Derek,

welcome to WT, the C Class 0-6-0 is an old favourite of my youth, plenty of them at my stamping grounds of Hither Green and Tonbridge.

Looking forward to some more pictures soon.

cheers

Mike

Thanks Richard. Suddenly had an inspiration though. Yesterday I was using Internet Explorer, today I am using Firefox. Tested theory using IE and uploads work perfectly. Basically I can upload with IE and NOT with Firefox.

For anyone interested here is an early construction picture showing how the pressure gauge is accessed.

Graham is right as far as the C Class is concerned though. On that it will be under the driver's seat!

Hello & Welcome Derek.....very impressive work, not a big fan of steam era models, but real working steam powered models are a different matter!

Great Stuff

Phill :)

Finally a few pics of the Warship (Jupiter) built several years ago. For this I cannot claim all the credit as Fred Phipp's kits are super detailed and a joy to put together plus Bob Hunter painted it for me. Only additions from me are floor panels in the cabs, illuminated marker lights, cab lights and illuminated headcode box. Its battery powered with 4 axle hung Steve Foster motor gearboxes. Control is by a Revolution 27000.IMG_3326.800.jpgIMG_2129.800jpg.jpgIMG_3925.800.jpg
