I have one I started a few years back, and also planned to do Brill No.1, Even Gibson wheels are wrong too few spokes and also too chunky so 3D printed centres that fitted into Exactoscale tyres.

Easily done. Solder to a piece of flat scrap considerably wider than the rod to prevent twisting.

I don't think the split rods will work, will they? The knuckle joint is over etched so as to be virtually non-existent. I wanted to use them on Bamburgh but had to split them on the centre crankpin instead and put a dummy knuckle in.

Are you sure you can't twist the problem rod back into true?
Twisted up like something from a lathe unfortunately. But I managed to bodge a new one...

Shes alive and runs sweet as anything.. Can't seem to post a video?image.jpg

Unfortunately there will be more than just the wheels that are wrong with the model I am building.......

She's trundling around very nicely. The name plates I have are too big so I've ordered some new ones from the very excellent Light Railway Stores.

The kit is very enjoyable to build because all the parts actually fit! It's not a novice kit though because of the roll-your-own parts. The chassis design is superb. My thanks to members here for advice re the motor and gearbox which, for some reason, is not given in the instructions.

I blame the fantastic Iain Rice for getting me started with this absurd hobby!

Depends which date you model - when Brill No1 was operational the original Met rigid 8 wheeled straight sided coaches were used. Fourtunately they had square panelling (albeit with the Met round top doors) which makes them easier to scratchbuild. These coaches were rebuilt with tumblehomes and used with the Met 4-4-0 tanks until the line's closure in 1935.

The loco looks really good. The gloss paint shows what a good job you've made of forming the tank.

I don't think much of the cat litter ballast though...

Haha. In fact it's medium ballast. She, most magnificent, most fearsome, threw out my last bits of real coal in disgust, EDIT: I got the weight up to 85 grams so she's fit for purpose. She has been running around most of the day without issue. The kit gets a thumbs up from me.
