…… I'm currently repurposing a layout/diorama I made some years ago.

Mike
Just found your diorama thread.
I think it’s a bit much to drop ISAAC into the crane tanks’ manor - he’ll have to be a feisty so-and-so to hold his own against that mean lot!

I can see another in the Audrey Railway Series episode in the making - Troublesome Crane Tanks.
(Ah, I thought Isaac’s green looked familiar yet I couldn’t place it - Percy!)

Shortly after I mentioned the difficulty I was having in obtaining a set of builders plates, I was contacted by @Pete_S who very kindly offered to make some for me.

Soon after a little package arrived in the post and I've now started the process of attaching them.

To say that I am impressed with them is a bit of an understatement. I think they look great! I've no idea how Pete produced them, but I think it's some sort of laser guided Caxton Press! ;)

I'll put some more pics up once the varnish I've used to attach the plates has set.

Pete also very thoughtfully produced a set of nameplates. Again, I think they look the business, but I'm two minds about using them as they would straddle a vertical line of rivets. I may have to add small packing pieces the thickness of the rivets.

Anyway, once again a Western Thunder member has come to my rescue. Thanks Pete:thumbs:

Presumably, the offending rivet heads would be ground flush on the full size? Why not do the same? If done with care, the resulting paint damage will be hidden by the plates.
Dave.

The latest copy (#144) of the 'Narrow Gauge & Industrial Railway Modelling Review' landed on my doormat yesterday.

To my surprise and delight there's an article by Andy Cuckson on Hughes & Co Locomotives. Although the article focuses mainly on the narrow gauge locomotive 'Belmont' that ran on the Snailbeach District Railway, there's a great picture from the Hughes catalogue that depicts a locomotive very similar to 'Isaac Dixon'. As I was working pretty much from one diagram and a lot of guesswork, it's quite gratifying for me to think I've got my model reasonably well proportioned.

Anyway, it's a good reason to subscribe to said magazine as you never know what delights may turn up in future editions.
