JLTRT Gresley Dia 186 Coach

Hello,

Finally got round to making a start on this a while ago and on some photos of Gresley coaches there is a horizontal pipe that runs along the solebar. Would that apply to this coach running in the BR period up to withdrawal?

Alan,
Yes, it's almost certainly the vac brake pipe. The reason it only appears in some photos is because it will run along only one side of the underframe.

It is the vacuum brake pipe generally running down the compartment side of compartment coaches.

The Kemilway instructions for assembling a Gresley coach chassis refer to 1.2mm diameter wire for the brake pipe in 7mm scale.

You may well find that the Kemilway documents are useful for other manufacturers' kits because of the information they contain.

More or less Bill. It's steel pipe for 2" BSP fittings - so 2.347" or round about 1.37mm scale......
