I will be attending after dropping off my wife in town which could prove to be an expensive day out for me. If anyone is thinking of getting there by train and walking from Bath Spa station the 1.4 miles from the station to the event I think is incorrect on the UK Model Shops website and a lot longer.

More like 1.8 miles. About a 40 minute walk…unless you stop off at The Bell on Walcott Street or Star Inn on The Paragon!

Check out first group buses in Bath, route 7 drops by the Inn after a lovely tour of upper Bath. It will be my mode of choice. Despite being caked out last year I ducked into the co-op across the road for victuals for return trip and locals all quite lovely.

On the one occasion I have made it I had a very pleasant walk along the canal before dropping down to the road and hall

The other relative point is that The New Oriel Hall has very good ramped access. Relative to both those that require it and for exhibitors unloading/loading as the steps are quite steep.

I'm currently (0915) enjoying a cup of coffee in a pub/Café about midway between Bath Spa Station and Larkhall, watching the world (or some of it) go by on the A4, having left Ashford on the 05:40. I may need more coffee as the day goes on...

Hi
back in Brum after a fantastic day among like minds, all the layouts offered inspiration as did the "workbench" areas. Of course a big thank you to the catering crew who produced tea and cake all day. Not sure I walked off all the calories consumed while testing cakes.

It's not that unusual for me...for the last 11 years, I've worked as booking clerk at a railway station that only has an early shift (0545-1245) so I only had to get up a little earlier than usual. Unfortunately, if I catch the first train and change at Ashford International on a Saturday, it means a half hour wait for the next St. Pancras train so my Beloved runs me up to the station. Years of "earlies" have left me feeling that not leaving the house until, say, 8am means half the day is gone!
It was a nice journey, with pretty much empty trains, and a lovely amble through Bath to Larkhall...
And what an excellent day, yet again!
Thanks all,
Simon.
