Nature re-establishes itself very quickly on any untended areas of land.

Strange how we today generally associate 'satanic mills' with Lancashire and Yorkshire. Just had quick look at the origin of the phrase and William Blake penned the poem And did those feet in ancient time (better known as the hymn Jerusalem) in c.1804-08 he was referring to mills of all types being built up and down the country during the industrial revolution.

From a distance of forty some years since I was a regular there, my recollections of Ken’s “Diggle” was a backdrop of rather grimy terraced streets. I’m not sure there were any actual mills involved…

'Heyside' (I think that's the name of the layout) captures well the area north of Oldham heading out to Royton Junction and I've seen none better.
