In the new year I plan on building a few layouts / Diorama's. All on boards about 8 foot long based on real locations. I will employ the same ethos as Canton in that I will shrink it down to suit the space whilst trying to capturing the feel of the actual location.
The first layout will be Severn Tunnel East.
A simple two track main line in a cutting from the English portal of the Severn Tunnel to Ableton lane Tunnel. The signal box and P Way hut are the only buildings plus two signals which will be built by Jon Fitness.
Once complete it will be for sale, the new owner can add fiddle yards, incorporate it into a bigger layout or into a loop, or just leave it as it is to act as a back drop for Rolling stock.

Project number 2 will be Hillfield tunnel Newport the first part of Gaer junction.
The Templot plans are going to be done over Christmas & I've contacted Jon about the signals.
I will be doing to the foot bridge crossing which will work out about 8 foot and too scale.
I popped down for a site visit yesterday to take a few pictures although it's very overgrown now compared to the good days.
Phil (brush type 4) will be commissioned to laser the tunnel mouths & foot bridge

If they are more-or-less scenic dioramas, that last one would look pretty dramatic if you did it as viewed in the photo - from head on!!

How many sections are you going to break the total length into?

It will be 8 foot long X 4 foot wide probably on one board with light weight construction.
I can amend this if need be & make it two 4 foot square boards

I reckon two boards of 4' X 3' would be more manageable and more appealing to a prospective purchaser than something
8' X 3' imho

4 foot square they will be, the tunnel mouth dictates the width.

Tricky to do the block work in a convincing pattern. Any one know if there is a methodology to it?
