There's a fair chance that you already know of my love for the gritty photos of of the last days of steam by the Krause/Gifford/Dunnett school of photographers. Here's a pair of steam's usurpers taken in the early seventies that despite its technical failings manages to capture a mood in a similarly powerful way.

That looks like a Consett special... went to that area in 1979 and 1980 with lads from Didcot. We spent a week at a time exploring the railways of the North East, highlights included seeing a "run" down to Seaham harbour.

Graham, it is as Neil says a technically poor shot but I'm as sure as I can be that it's a routine run of the big ore hoppers from (or to) Tyne Dock - a batch of 24s were modified to work them when the 9Fs went.
