There needs to be a trellis up that bare patch of wall. Not all the way up, but as high as the top of the ground floor windows. Not sure what plant would grow up a trellis, mind. Green growing things are not something I’ve much interest in.

Clematis or a climbing rose would be nice.

And, whilst @cbrailways is pondering the rodding layout (many thanks), I'm still in gardening mode. Working on the front left view blocker (of the exit) plantation next. Slightly different approach to those at the rear:

Probably two groups of three with a gap between and some lower bushes.



The groupings should be a good view block looking right.



But the gap will provide a view looking left.



And that will leave four armatures for the area behind the signal box.

I agree Alan, it's always been the plan to incorporate trees and a few gaps. The layout isn't big but I'm hoping there will be lots of opportunity to look around and over stuff to get different viewpoints.

The trees right at the back are all now leafed and add a nice bit of mass to counteract the bulk of the clay dries.









I've introduced a little colour variation.

At last I've caught up, I only found out about this thread on Tuesday, when I found it mentioned in another thread. Some excellent modelling Chris, I didn't bother to hit the like button on my trip through the thread, especially when I espied panniers and Praries. There were also one or two modelling tips along the way. Great work all round.

I went for a long walk yesterday and was surprised to see this blue plate attached to a building only a few miles away from where I live. Had no idea that Gresley lived locally for a while...

As you can probably tell I'm in a bit of a modelling doldrums at the moment. There's still lots to do and a show to attend in April but I've done nothing for weeks.

I have however promised myself that I will do something today. It's flipping cold outside so that's a good reason to do something to the layout in the nice warm railway room today.

Very slow start. Picked up a few things. Put them down again. Ended up sticking rodding stools to tape ready for priming and painting. Then assembled the lever frame for the signal box. Probably a bit modern but will give the desired effect through the windows.

And, back to trees... Needed doing as I needed green stuff cleared away off the workbench.

Platform needed surfacing, so out with the sieved BBQ ash...





Have done each half slightly differently. Will be interesting to see which ends up best as I've got about 8' to surface on Pencarrow.

Chris,

Good to see some progress, I prefer the right hand platform end, with the variation in colour. Point rodding tends to be the poor relation when it comes to modelling, but I think it lifts a model when added correctly.
