The Planet shunters used in Devonport Dockyard used long links, probably close to twice the length of standard links, even then when the MOD flask wagon was moved through the yard a steel strop was used, due to the end swing on 2 chain radius curves.

I fitted a few OO wagons with four link couplings so that they would go round ten inch radius curves on a standard gauge pizza layout I built many years ago.
