Hahahahahaha....
Not likely.... It's a lifetime project...
Current progress is that all the pway on the main boards is being weathered and ballasted, but tests being done first to get the correct colour and ballast. Of course the layout now extends out into the next room via 'the great outdoors', but unfortunately, the weather has been too cold to use it since it was completed.
Hopefully it will get plenty of use this summer... and of course, anyone is always more than welcome on most working Wednesdays, and the last Sunday of the month for the general group meeting..

Here's a couple more shots taken last year, although now we have laid track on the traverser and the T/T is operational.
JB has bought you up to date with the current work, but there is always stock and scenery to build continuously.
Just to correct JB, the traverser is 6'-0", which is just long enough for the anticipated coach rakes although we can strengthen the rakes with shunting. Six foot is also a managble size for the cassettes.
We will also add loco storage spurs off the T/T later.

Eventualy the idea is to house the layout in a large building which will enable us to model the whole branch up to Marks Tey and have an extensive fiddle yard representing Liverpool St.
All in the distant future, by which time I will have handed over my grey beard to JB, and have the dcc controls mounted on a zimmer frame.

I've just got back from a visit to see West Mersea and many thanks to JB for the invite and Peter for the hospitality and the welcome from the rest of the group.
All I can say is what a project
The work and craft and skill involved are fantastic to this humble RTR 00 modeller.

Great day at West Mersea Hq today, and thankyou for all the visitors. We had 4 new visitors, and 1 person who had attended before amongst the usual suspects. I hope all had a good day, and worthy of the travel, though apologies that there are still one or two niggling little problems that might have marred the day if only slightly.
I did though hear one person when asked what time they wanted to leave reply with the phrase "tomorrow..??!!" which is good to hear.
It was a day of firsts for the group and layout... Shunting of wagons in the yard, two trains passing each other on the extension, a proper passenger service travelling back and forth to the traverser and turntable in 'the other room', so a relatively successful day!!
K2 had a good run, and surprisingly, the J68 performed faultlessly, and probably travelled 10 times further today than it has since it was built
Amongst Easterner and Alan visiting with a third friend (sorry I was so hectic running around I didn't catch their name), we had 7mmMick from ooop norf who brought his two brake vans and LNER tube wagon, which despite their length which could have caused issues, ran absolutely perfectly out of the box as it were, so many congratulations to him, should be very proud of that, and look forward to seeing the G5 in very due course !!
With Mick's two brake vans, and the 4 that we already have on the layout, it seemed rude not to mock up a LCGB brake van special see pics... a couple of videos of the days activities too. I'd like to have shot a lot more video material, but it just wasn't possible, whilst trying to make sure everything was running as best it could.

Good to meet the Western Thunderer's who attended the WMR, in Sufolk, on Sunday. A good day had by all. I think JB has summed up the day well and just to add that to see everybody, new to Peter Hunt's emporium, suddenly discovering the pandoras box of goodies in the shop brought a smile to my face ;D
WT's are all welcome to visit the WMR,( you don't have to be a 7mm modeller
) meetings are last Sunday of every month, and working party on Wednesdays, if you would like to visit contact JB, myself or phone Peter Hunt, just to confirm.

Just a quick note to say thanks to everyone for making me feel so welcome down at Sudbury yesterday. I had a fantastic time, the high lights being;
1) Pilot duty on the freight and watching the J tank and fifteen or so wagons winding its way slowly through the series of points onto the main line without so much as a bump or jolt and disappearing under the bridge as the K2 passed by in the opposite direction
2) Seeing my first efforts run for the first time without coming off
3) Having a good root round in Aladin's Cave with Col and finding some lovely treasure ( i've already started a list for my next visit)
4) The tangy pickle and Pork Pie for lunch
The first visit of many for me i'm sure, I would have posted sooner but the first thing I wanted to do tonight was to build something due to all that built up tension yesterday. Next I must make a start on a loco to have a run out aswell,

I built a peco four plank open, one end is rocking so I kept that but I just need to sort the other end?? Have you converted one of these mate, if so could you point me in the right direction please The journey wasn't too bad at all, obviously keepinh to the speed limit
