Now then Col,

I had a great time thanks although a shame I missed the WM xmas do :headbang:Not much direct S7 interest but lots of general modelling questions which was good, maybe next year they'll be more as S7 does seem to be hgrowing in popularity. Yet again I find myself moaning but I 've been so busy since the Wigan Show I haven't had any time at the bench or computer so apologies for not replying sooner, still recovering from yesterday so i'm off to polish off another bottle of red with the wife. A happy chritmas and new year to you all ( a bit late I for one but still early for the other :D ) Here's to some hoddy time in the next few days,

Did you enjoy yourself Mick, was there much interest in S7 at the show?
My apologies - missed this earlier. Mick helped out on the Sunday and I covered both days. Yes we had a steady trickle of interest through out the 2 days. It was the usual mix of finescale modellers with too much stock to convert which is understandable to others looking at moving up from 4mm, hopefully we've caught a few from this camp before they get entrenched in the finescale world. We then had a few "one off's", I thought S7 modellers were ploughing a lonely furrow but we had one guy looking at S7 standards to Irish gauge 5' 3". Now I'm aware there's a few of them around but this was eclipsed by another guy asking about scratch building a chassis. Basically he models American outline but to 1:43rd scale. He had bought a loco in 1:48th scale which he says he "made taller" to fit the scale, it still didn't look right so he "made it longer". Now the chassis doesn't fit hence the enquiry about building a new chassis.

So we handed out all the membership forms at the show and several flyers so there may be some interest but at least we were seen.

:)):)):))Arh Hobby time, to quote my wife when having a hard day with our three monsters ' that's what got us into this mess ':D . Yes I'd had a good skin full last night and thought a post was long overdue, good job I didn't repost at about eleven who knows what it would have read like:D. hopefully I'll get a bit of time ' at the bench ' today........

Adrian,
Don't tell me there's somebody modelling Irish gauge to a F/S standard, 5' 1" perhaps.?
Col.
It wouldn't surprise me in the least! The guy was having problems because Slaters supply 5' 3" gauge wagon and coach wheels to Scale7 standards, yet the loco driving wheels are only available in Finescale standards. So his dilemma was which track standards to use! I had a sample of the Scale7 wheels, so he walked away with a membership form and the knowledge that Scale7 loco wheels were available or can be turned up from Slaters wheels.

Now that IS weird - if not simply perverse!! I wonder why he wants to do that - it hardly seems worth all the effort, I must say. Still each to their own....
Sometimes at exhibitions you learn there are questions you just don't ask.

Went up to the home of the West Mersea layout today to get on with more milling for the LNWR "A" class loco's.
Steve & John, our ballasting experts, were there.
Took a few pic's for an update.
A tree has appeared in the pub yard, I believe made by Val our Honorary catering officer, clever lass is our Val not only making trees but she has made some very good 7mm horses and ponys in resin with fine hair manes and tails in the past ( I'll try and get some photo's).
In the cattle dock siding the stone blocks for drainage have been laid, according to Peter Hunt they are 10mm scale brick sheets which work out roughly the right size for 7mm blocks as used by the GER.DSCF2522.JPGDSCF2523.JPGDSCF2524.JPG
