Hi Mick, I will be interested as to what you find out on this subject as it's something that has crossed my mind recently. Apparently CPL do cast ones but they are GWR pattern. Despite this in the absence of anything else even GWR pattern ones would be better than just a nut.Has anybody used the above product from the society? I've had them described to me but below is a picture of what i'm trying to acheive on my NER J tanks and I wondered if this product can acheive something like this....

It's the detail that counts

I think the best NE type i've seen are the Finney ones on his V2 but he won't supply seperate castings
Just what I had in mind really Alan but i'm always looking for a quicker solution as I think almost all the NER engines i'll be modelling in the near future have these crank pin nuts.

We could turn them from silver steel Mick, drill and tap and then file the flats I will have to do some any way for my own loco's

If people can engrave the Lords Prayer on the head of a pin Colin will have no problem with the loco number on a crank-pin nutSounds like a plan to me Col, it will really set them off nicely I think. As said before much nicer than a nut, ot sure how we're going to stamp the loco numbers in the different ones though

Hi Tim,
Welcome to WT mate. As soon as I saw "Mudhen" I knew it was you. My other half tells me that may also be Marsh hen yes?
I'll have to engrave the numbers on the crank pins as I don't think I'll be able to make punches that small

Mick,
I have some of of the Scale 7 crankpin nuts to which you refer somewhere. They are heaxagonal nuts with an integral flange. I wouldn't imagine that they would be too difficult to modify to achieve something close to your photograph. If I can put my hands on them I'll post a picture on here tomorrow.
Incidentally, whilst I'm replying to you, I'll reintroduce myself to you. I'm the Dave that Mick Nicholson introduced to you at the recent Doncaster show.
Best Wishes,
Dave
