Wonderful work JB. That really is a vast improvement to the original kit.
Lovely work JB, I love the cylinder taps and all the detail around the block. It would be a real shame to wave it goodbye.
I look forward to seeing a Love Lane video of her in action, when Lockdown is relaxed,
Thanks everyone for all the comments. Always appreciated.
Well in a fit of madness and mis-information, I bought a kit off of eBay that just isn't suitable for what i'm doing? So I can either move it on unbuilt, or I can build it to FS or S7 for anyone that is interested?
I saw the J15 in the flesh today. It’s superb. Thanks JB for bringing over.
Thanks Phil. Glad you liked it!
Whilst waiting for some further details to come in before my first commission build I knocked this up the other day.
I'll be moving this on to a new home when finished as its too early for Love Lane, if anyone is interested.
Coming along. Castings are only plonked on for pictures.
Not sure whether to do this in FS or S7 in order to sell.
Lovely surprise in the post this morning from @eastsidepilot
Wheels for the J15 now on the home straight before heading off to its new owner.
Been a bit quiet on the workbench whilst I've been lucky enough to have some work.
More to come soon thankfully, but whilst I have some downtime, I've been getting the skills back before I crack on with the commission.
The LNER F7 - Crystal Palace tank which is still looking for a new home when it's complete.
Trying something new with this one. Split-axle pickup radial trucks.
Hi all, not been around here much lately as (and very grateful in this respect) I've been flat out with work. It's been a fun couple of months surprisingly, with a front cover coming up on a steam mag and what looks to be a 3 month run in 'Motorsport' magazine.
I think things will start quietening down during December though so getting my eye back in to it.
First off I think I'll open a new pot of flux. The old one has had a good innings!
Hoping to get paint on to the J15 so it can go off to the new owner for playing with at Christmas time. Rapidly finish the F7 and finally finally make a solid start on the commission. My apologies for the delay.
Here's one I lightly weathered for a friend earlier
Thought that was your dinner !
Way back in this post you were a little dismissive of an Alan Gibson kit, what are the issues with his kits, please? I am thinking of buying one of his 7mm G6s.
I'll be interested too - I have an LMS 2P to build.
Very nice mate..!
Wasn't the LMS 0-6-0 you built a Gibson kit?
Oh there are a few problems with the Connoisseur version too if you want to build a good one!
I believe the main issue with the Gibson kit is the size of the boiler barrel. We believe he took the O/D of the boiler barrel itself rather than the boiler barrel + cladding so it's quite noticeably undersized.
No, that was a JM Kit. It was a delight to build, particularly as I bought it as a basket case for next to nothing. At the much missed Langley Show.
Aah, right you are, I couldn't remember.
