Today postie turned up with a big green box for me. I got the box indoors and opened A.S.A.P, wow . The sheer size and quality of the etches and castings are superb . I have attached a few photos (which don't do the kit justice). Also have any of you chaps built one of these and are there any areas that I should be aware of that are slightly tricky.

Sorry I haven't got back to you guys earlier but I have been distracted on the Collett. As all ready mentioned on this thread it is a 7mm finney kit and it will be built to scale 7 standards. Now for the bad news it will only be a static model of 257 squadron (many happy firing and driving turns on the SVR) and will be on display in my den (Dan Randall is trying to persuade me to motorise it but I will have nowhere to run it).

OK guys I will look into it next year when I start to build it as I have some commitments in the P4 area (supplying some trains for the West London group layout for imrex). Are RG7 a good option as Martin suggests this motor and ABC's but I have no idea whats best :scratch:. Any help gratefully received. Dan has also mentioned some of those nice etched Mk1s in green behind the beast as I mentioned that in one of my books there is a photo of 257 squadron with 3 of these coaches at Exter St Davids.

I was desperately trying not to impose myself on this thread with the current very one-sided 'debate' about getting the model running or not, but as you're willing to be swayed... 

What ABC unit is recommended?  To be honest I'd think even the Canon 1833 versions would be 'adequate'.  We've got a David Andrews E1 which has a 30:1 ABC Mini and Canon 1833.  It will comfortably haul eight coaches and fifteen or more well-weighted (ABS kit) wagons before slipping so there's plenty of power there; that was all the rolling stock that we had at the time!

Martin doesn't specify which ABC motor/gearbox to use. As for the slipping it would be just like the real thing .

Hmmm a bit far, I was going to mention that if you wanted somewhere to run a Scale7 engine, you'd be more than welcome at the Sudbury group in Suffolk when it's finished..
