Now it's time to get the sand paper out now I have the basic shape. Just noticed that the window etch has been dragged off by low tack masking tape oh:shit:

That's an interesting site to trawl through Steve.

Ian, the 310 (or as we old farts call them, AM10's:D) is coming on a treat.

I do admire your determination to keep going. It will be quite something when it's finished:thumbs:.

I seem to remember that 309's (Clactons) had wraparound windows until they were rebuilt? also lost the griddle car at the same time, cheers Rob

Hiya

Just a flying visit. I may have read it wrong but as I understand it you are trying to convert a DTBS to a DTC by filling a door in and moving a few windows arround?

The above image shows that only the drivers window is in the same place, everything else is different (wouldn't want you to put all that effort in and still get it wrong)

Sorry Jim I don't think I explained the post correctly the original drawings got me totally confused as they show the composite coach with 5 doors and the incorrect window spacing of the DTS for the DTC we both know they only have 4 so what they did was to replace the windows with another door and re space the windows incorrectly. I am redrawing the coach using measurements taken from the 312 at Coventry and hopefully will be closer to the mark. I was glad you told me about the larger windows in the composite as it looks like these are the same size as a normal Mk1 and the smaller windows are a special size, thanks

Not really I have been slightly distracted sorting out windows for mk2 coaches and stuff. The next move is to get the windows drawn up and etched for the unit, then take a casting of the finished coaches and make more

This is going to be my tribute to the GUV ( RIP mate) considering it was he who spurred me to do the improvements in the first place, I am going to build up a permanently coupled 4 car rake of a STD brake end with 3 cut and shut Big Big Mk2's with interiors, fully lit with passengers including a working taillight, in B+G to go behind the western.

The play coach ( my test bed)has had a little attention, please remember this is a test
photo 1 (2).JPG
Cut the gang way end off and stick it to a piece of plasticard
photo 2.JPG
Open the end of the coach out keeping the outer shell of the gang way (I have a feeling this is a mistake)photo 3.JPG
Then decide that this is no good and throw it away
photo 5.JPG
Smooth the inside of the cut gangway and 1/2 way along glue in a piece of platicard square rod
photo 1.JPG
Add black electrical shrink sleevephoto 2.JPG
Make new gangway end ( a very cruel close up)photo 3.JPG
Add to coach
photo 4.JPG
its messy but it works and it gives flexibility to the end of the gangway. The gang way end is too big but you get the idea. The next one should be better.

Question? Should the end of the gangway be removed all together to move the gang way further inside the coach please give constructive answers.

Ian, that works really well:thumbs:

I'm a bit worried about the bottom coach though - it looks a bit short to me:p

Sorry, back to the point building - I'll be so pleased when I have finished:rolleyes:
