WT and the JLTRT range of diseasels

Just thinking whilst the butanone evaporates from another couple of rail lengths...

The JLTRT Western goes down well here judging by the number which were built by Cynric (RIP) and are being built by D1054... plus the odd several amongst other members. The same might be said for the Cl37... and there does seem to be a fan-club within an element of the forum for the Cl.35 and for the Cl.40. Fine and dandy, what about the rest?

Where are the Cl.24, the Cl.25, the Cl.44, Cl.45, Cl.46? the Class 50? nor to forget the Class 20! (and we shall draw a veil over the Cl.17). Why do these models feature so rarely on this forum?

Or are we all waiting for the Cl.22 before getting hot under the collar and turfing the moths out of their hibernation wallet?

I like the 50's and is on my list of locos, as seeing these loco's as a youngster going through the golf course above Carlion Bay near Par, hauling passenger and clay 4 wheelers.

I like the 44 - the bogies are works of art....

This stalled because the instructions are crap, and I don't have enough knowledge to work out a) what the rest of the parts are b) where they go, and c) what's missing, if anything, in any event. The roof needed a significant amount of thick plastic/resin/whatever they're made out of removing to get it to fit.

I also have a Hymek to do which looks really nice.

I'd like an LMS 10000. I built one many moons ago (from and RJH kit, and thereby hangs a tale), in original as-built condition, for Best Beloved's 50th birthday present. :drool:

Right now, I can't afford to buy the JLTRT kit, so a more authentic version of Mr Ivatt's pioneer diesel as it appeared five days old in December 1947 will have to remain on the wish list.

Right now, I'm tossing the coin to see if I go for a 37 or wait and join the rush for the 22.

With you there, especially pre revamp with the cyclonic intake filter system (hoover) didn't sound the same once refurbished but it's still and EE plant under the hood and that's good enough for me :thumbs:

Tempted too, just not right at the moment and torn between D4xx series or Blue 80s.

Nice! :thumbs: What are you short of?, you need to define your date and work from there. Class 44 didn't change much once they got grouped at Toton mid 62, after that they became coal luggers and boilers were switched out, steam hoses might have been removed at some point. Bodyside steps were plated but boiler fill hatches were not.

I Like the fact that the bogies are etch brass with white metal on these kits, disappointed that JLTRT didn't go to that level of detail in the Class 40. A Peak or 25/2 with three large windows will probably be my next JLTRT purchase in due course.

I'm doing 44008, Penyghent, very early on in its life. No yellow panel and grey side grills. I'm short of underframe shots - what is below the bodyside, where the little panels/labels go on the bottom of the sides and pipework on top of the bogies.

Brian Hanson has offered to let me have his photos, but I've not sorted that yet.

Ok in that case you need the full fit of hoses, Vac, Steam and all of the MU ones which it looks like you already have done.

D8 was one of 5 to have their water tanks removed in 61/62 leaving only the battery boxes between the bogies.

New to Camden in Dec 28th 1959 then to Derby Jan-May 60, back to Crewe but moved temporarily to Toton for fitted freight tests in Sept 60. Between then and Feb 62 when D8 (the first) was permanently transferred to Toton is a little grey at the moment but I'd need to go through all the images and reference I have to see if more info pops up, but its a high chance it was on WCML duties during that period, ABC gives it as 5A in mid 61.

Not sure when yellow panels were added, earliest seem to be class 44 or 40 early in 62, will need again tocheck all my books to see if i can narrow that date down a little for you.

Pipe runs and below decks might be tricky though do have a shot in BRILL of a bogie before fitting which might help, slightly elevated view too....just need to find it in the piles of projects material that litter everywhere! LOL

I think that you are correct in what you say Jordan... however there has to be something else to add to the mix because there is deafening silence in regard to Hymeks :confused: .
