Hi Chris, I've just spent a happy hour or so trawling through your thread:) Splendid modelling and the layout will be magnificent once you've finished it! I remember seeing one of the boards at the RMweb members day at Taunton a few years ago, where it made quite an impression! Keep up the good work:)

And the latest update, delayed by cooking and eating Sunday dinner, is that the stone fascia has now been fitted to the building carcass.

It's a very strange arrangement around the window (which looks great, cheers @mickoo ).

There's a brick arch ring, but it doesn't go past the LHS of the window. The LHS is stone and the RHS is brick. Definitely knocked around and added to.

Couldn't make it up....

* Corrected to reference the right Mick...

Cheers Dave

Yes, it would have been the left most board at the terminal end at Taunton in 2018. You'd have seen the Grain Store insitu at the end of the tracks - that's the building I'm currently working on. Building its curvy, higgledy pigglediness is certainly proving to be a challenge.

Of course - I dare say there were little or no building controls at the time the building would have been extended.

Question... how are you going to glaze the leaded window. One sheet of glazing material behind or use something like canopy glue in each pane so you get the faceted appearance when seen?

Moving along at a cracking pace... Well that's what I'm telling myself. ;)

Oh, and a lesson learned when settling down for a full day scribing... A bit of extra finger protection helps.

Looks like my fingers when working with Purbeck stone, but we used insulation tape. Blessed stone would eat through skin in minutes, especially if damp.

The grain store is looking really good.

Good morning Dave, I must admit that I was just going to glaze behind it with clear material. You raise a good point about the faceted appearance though and canopy glue could well be the answer and also solve the problem of how to do a missing pane. Good call. The windows will however be filthy, so transparency isn't too important!

Thanks Peter, hope you and family are all keeping well down in Brazil.

The tape certainly helps when doing repetitive jobs with the same tool for hours. No ill finger wear this morning after scribing for about 5hrs yesterday.

There's a note inside the building that says I started it in June 2015. Would be nice to complete the beast before 5 years is up. Obviously I've missed that opportunity with the 1368 :)).

Some more exquisite carving Chris, hopefully you won't get waylaid ( food and drink stops accepted ) and see this through now ?

As for the 1368....you know my feelings but if the "other one" appeals then it would be good to see something chugging up and down you track work which was a beauty to behold.

Take care matey,

G

p.s. I made reference to the Vallejo product on my post about the bridge but for some reason I had to do a "manual quote" as the system wouldn't allow me to do it automatically ?

Coming along at a pace now mate and beginning to look the part.

p.s. have you run out of "finger tape" yet ?

Yo G Bloke. Nope, got a big roll of it and an ample supply of beer. I've found that alcohol induced numbing of the senses helps both with pain relief and the blocks being more random. Well I'm not at work today and I'm another year older, so anything goes.
