One thing I was reminded of when I saw your soldering stations in place was an arrangement I had in my workshop in my previous house. I always seemed to get problems with the cable to the iron getting in the way on the bench top and I put some sockets in the ceiling above the bench so that the cables for the irons (no soldering stations then) were kept well out of the way of the working area. I've now got Xytronic and Weller soldering stations and I'm now back to getting cables getting in the way with the transformers sitting on the bench top. So I'm looking at some way of getting the transformers on a shelf with the cables to the irons going through some sort of "skyhook" to keep them up out of the way.

Jim,
Have you thought of the long spring that SWMBO may use in conjunction with the iron and ironing board. My wife uses one and it keeps the cable high and well away from the board top.

I think that's what has been in the back of my mind, probably having seen something like it in the past. I've just found this on Amazon which might be worth a try since it's not too expensive.

I have had a bit of a decorating spree, and I constructed a new book shelf, there is still some residual mess from the painting. Yes the clamp will come off but I havent screwed it together yet this is just a test run:) I has to be said, it would have been quicker and cheaper to have gone to Ikea however the Billy unit is just a tad (10mm) too tall to fit

The Rosewood book case is just resting whilst decorating is due to take place elsewhere

The workbench had a quick spruce with some units off ebay

The shelf queens have thinned out a little :) The rubbish under the laser is due for the tip and the temporary extraction pipe needs to be replaced with some smooth bore tube

All this has taken much longer than planned :headbang: but its good to have cleared some stuff although there is still plenty more to go:eek:
