Hi , Could anybody tell me which version/versions of these tanks survived in milk traffic use into the mid seventies :?:

Yes I got some of slaters springing gubbins at Telford, I thought if I spring the centre axle :?: , although as you say a floating centre axle would probably be fine too, my only experience of building a 6 wheel chassis is my Western bogies which have a floating centre axle & are fine .28ten said:I have just looked at Ians thread, and it's an O38. I woul imagine it will need a fair bit of added weight. You asked about springing etc, in experience with 6 wheel tenders it will need a floating middle axle as well as some sideplay to run properly. IMHO a rigid 6 wheeler is a recipe for disaster.
So who else is going to know either..??Phill Dyson said:....trouble is apart from the ladders, they all look the same to me
That's a useful link & I will keep you posted , I can do the ex-LMS one in the first pic as the Slaters one I already have is an ex-LMS 2000 gallon tank & I have some Powsides 'St Ivel ' transfers for it as well28ten said:I found this http://www.semgonline.com/vandw/milk_01.html there a couple of useful pictures.
let us know how get on as all this research makes me fancy a few
They could be from nearest the camera: 060,038,039,039,038 & the ones beyond that could be 023's as they don't appear to have walk ways near the filler.28ten said:I have Diesel Hydraulics in the West country' on the desk and there is a colour pic on P10 I cant see any running numbers but from the steps they could be O39
I will try and speak to Slaters at Bristol and see what they say about them
