No ups, all downs, from what I hear of them they are both are a waste of space. Can't say I'd be in favour of this either. Lots of downs so far, but what are the upsides, if any?
I am reliably told that forum software is dead and Facebook is the futureI have no accounts on either Facebook or Twatter so see no real benefit to me. If it benefits the forum in some way I'd have no problem with it - but I thought we were already a circle of friends that can keep in touch, update and 'like' each others work, we just do it here

I am a bit suprised at the hostility, as really it is just social media the same as a forum, just a bunch of people expressing their point of view......

Applying the patch makes no odds either way to me, but seeing as nobody uses either it seems pointless I am a bit suprised at the hostility, as really it is just social media the same as a forum, just a bunch of people expressing their point of view......
Im not about to make any changes it just adds a Facebook and Twitter 'like' at the bottom of a post, but as nobody uses either it is not worth doing.Cynric,
I personally think you should keep the forum as it is.
There is a common cause running through every posting, even though we digress sometimes, we are all modellers, the exchange of tips and wrinkles is what it is all about. All the modelling photo's give people like me something to aim at.
My wife is an occasional user of facebook and she is always complaining about the amount of garbage that is posted.
Alan
That says something about the people making comments doesnt it?I have seen people fall out over comments made on face book and people completely divorced from the conversation in progress try and assassinate and victimize the op.
I'd love to know where that came from
I wouldnt say I'm hostile as such, but perhaps that's a bit of a broad comparison? Lowest common multiple/highest common denominator maybe, that sort of thing?
Simon, good move for the shop. If someone likes it, it becomes visible to their friends and you get free marketing. where it falls down is the assumption that your friends are actually interested in a book on the Little Snoring branch in the 1840's technically it is viral marketing and that is what excites large companies over social media. If I ever do online ordering for Mek holders ( ) then I will integrate Facebook and Twitter, because being a bit younger on average the military chaps make more use of it.

You need to get this up and running, to keep customers up to date and involved, it will integrate FB and TwitterThanks for that Cynric, in that case I'll persevere. I need in any event to add some slightly "bloggish" element to my re-vamped site so that I can mention new titles etc, all of which now appear on the database driven side of the site much more quickly than they ever did before. I guess I could add the facebook link from this new page to limit its stylistic impact on everything else.
I'll definitely "like" your Mek holders
Funny day of strong light and heavy showers here today. We have just repaired a puncture and I think Harry and I are about to go out on a bike ride along the canal towpath, could do with a blast of fresh air!
