4mm Podimore: landscaping.

Continuing the modelling conversation.

Elsewhere on WT, a lump of blue foam sheets is being carved into the workface of a claypit, it will be stuck onto a sandwich of two sheets of Hobbycraft 5mm foamboard in order to create some verticality to a boring flat board that is the basis of the diorama. Just 5mm is enough to break up the inevitable flat appearance of the diorama and allow a small irregular hole to be cut in the top foamboard sheet to create a small/tiny pond that will draw the attention of the viewer.

A redundant NG track will connect the clay working to the two buildings of the brickworks, naturally, it will rise and fall as it follows the contour to the end of the line, another eye pleaser.

I only mention this because subtle changes of contour enables the creation of ditches etc. which are often neglected subjects of modelling and in their own way provide excuses for flora and fauna. The image was captured near Marston Magna which should please Adam.

Sorry about the image of the ditch, I am forced to use the iPad whilst sitting (bored beyond belief) in the dialysis unit, the iPad doesn’t allow any real image control.
