Background

Model Railway Journal Index is the result of many hours of dedicated work.

The site was originally created and maintained by Matt Ots, a professional web developer, who was keen to produce something that not only did the job but worked well, looked good and was easy to use. The site met not only Matt's needs but soon also proved to be a valuable resource for other railway modellers and MRJ readers.

In 2012, due to a reassessment of ongoing priorities and commitments, Matt decided to discontinue his role as manager and curator of this website and the site was transferred to Chris Baker.

Technical stuff

The site and its supporting database were developed from scratch by Matt Ots, allowing everything to be tailored specifically to the task in hand rather than trying to hack an existing piece of software. The system includes a secure web-based admin area allowing multiple editors and administrators with varying levels of control over inputting and editing data.
