Issues 272 and 274 saw our first acquaintance with John Elliot's ambitious project to build a near scale model of the former Midland Railway Leeds terminus as it was in the late 1950s. The layout is now operational and features some very impressive signalling installations. With an introduction from John, Howard Bolton, the 'brains' behind the mechanical and fully interlocked lever frames designed specifically for the project, describes how these were designed, constructed and deployed at the the signalboxes represented on the layout.
