Hi all,
Just bringing your attention to The Guild of Railway Artists Railart 2016 Exhibition. Its to be held at Kidderminster Railway Museum on the Severn Valley Railway. Just the thing if you have some spare time around your visit to Telford and highly recommended.

If anyone is interested, Railart 2016 closed yesterday and it turned out to be one of the best exhibitions to date. 20 of the 54 paintings sold at over £37,000 in total - who says that there isn't any disposable income about?

For those that went for a look, a popular painting was City of Leeds, a watercolour and gouache painting which was the most expensive painting in the show. It also sold.

I went a couple of times - I thought the quality was higher than in previous years. City of Leeds was my favourite (then, being a Duchess, it would be, wouldn't it?) and it had my vote for best in show. I couldn't afford the asking price though.

I kind of agree with you provided that we exclude the real star of the show. 'Wheels in a roundhouse' just got to me, so evocative and just as I remember my visits to sheds in the early 1960s. Chris has done a painting from the heart and deserves to be recognised as a superb railway artist.

I really miss those days at the GRA and all the good folks at Warwick and Kidderminster.

The only thing I don't miss is that for some inexplicable reason I always managed to get lost in Northampton on the way there, or if I decided to take the other route, in the Coventry area when on my way home?!

In the last year Chris and I have taken up small roles on the Guild council, so should anyone else who visited the exhibition have any feedback that they would like to share it would be gratefully received.
