A really dark secret

Mention it not but the other unmentionable is a hankering for the rural lines of West Virginia

Here is my 'project' for the spring do at Missenden

When finished it should resemble this;

The boxes contain an LMB Models M-class of the N&W, the model dates from the mid 60's.

Now we're talking! N&W is one of three dominant US anoraks in my closet (PRR and UP being the others) You'd think from the photo that it's a small loco, in reality its probably physically bigger than a 9F.

That's two incidents N&W this week and that anorak is banging the doors to get out, must apply more locks until 08 is done!

You'll find that one or two one here have a little US secret ;)
Western Maryland is my main RR but I'm also partial to CB&Q, NYC, P&LE/ERR and one or two others.

This is an almost 50 year-old LMB Models M-class in HO, my example needs a lot of TLC.
However, this is something that I found in my sock drawer, my only 'other' N&W loco, a NWSL E2a of a similar age. and it will join the M-class on my Virginia backwoods layout - Antioch.

My US modelling (as opposed to Canadian), SP and Cotton Belt. The only locos I have are a C9 2-8-0, M21 2-6-0 and Se4 0-8-0 and this Model Loco S160 in US Army livery as used on their Fort Eustis military railway.

I have to add that all Dave's stuff has been breathed on and runs superbly - rarely the case with brass.

My equivalent collection includes a number of SP locos: WSM/Mizuno P4 Pacific, WSM/Katsume P10 Pacific, WSM/Misuno A6, WSM/Katsumi GS6, Sunset S12, Fuji M4 and a GOM SSW 4-4-2. There's a few other randoms including a Sunset N&W 4-8-2 which is a bit of a basket case, a CN switcher and 4-6-0...

All part of the scattergun approach...!

Blimey I'm out of my depth around here... just as US Diesel designations might be a total mystery to a UK-only enthusiast, so all these different US Kettle Classes are a mystery to me...
+1

I am sitting in my municipal deckchair with tea and tiffin to hand, about four or five places from the left hand end of the row, just pop along and do not forget a cup and saucer.

as I think most of us are - perhaps the annex at the back of the class could be enlarged in readiness of a mass influx :(:(:(

Is there actually ANY seats other than the ones at the back of the classroom:confused: as there seems to be a lot of us here. I might go into business selling conicle shaped hats with a D on them, im sure there could be a market for them....... just knowing where:))

View attachment 17735View attachment 17738View attachment 17735View attachment 17738 Having lived in the US for 7 years I still have no interest beyond the normal inquisitiveness of a railway modeller. However they can produce some great exhibitions. One I saw there was a layout HO, which had multiple full length trains on the same track...

Just a short train in the first picture but gives an idea of the length of railroad...

A picture with no Green or Blue locos...

I guess I'll join the Tiffin crew.

Not sure that was the best way to add pictures...
You may have clicked "thumbnail" rather than "full image".

If you think that might be the case... click edit and remove the images from the message, then go through the upload file sequence again.
