However they can produce some great exhibitions. One I saw there was a layout HO, which had multiple full length trains on the same track...

Just a short train in the first picture but gives an idea of the length of railroad...

A picture with no Green or Blue locos...

I guess I'll join the Tiffin crew.

No, but plenty of yellow and armour grey! And some serious horse power, DDA40X (Centennial), DD35B, U50C, U50BB, Veranda turbine, Standard turbine, GTEL, Steam turbine #1 and looks like the turbine section of a big blow outside, plus a SD9043MAC on the table to top the cake. Only thing missing is the Alco C855.

Dang and did that UP anorak mug me good and proper!

Interesting comment, because AFAIK "Exhibitions" as we know them here are quite rare in the States. They do tend to have days where they'll join loads of modules together - which is what it looks like to me in the pics above.
Modules are all built to a certain specification regarding how boards join, where the tracks are positioned, and how they're wired.
In the UK there's a "Freemo" group, who demonstrated this sort of thing at last year's Trent Valley Show; I think they'll be there this year too...

Jordan,

Yes and Yes... This was from Trainfest Wisconsin 2005, there were a number of layouts, some of the traditional style we mainly follow, but also some of the clubs brought the modulesIMG_1461.JPG along with varying degrees of scenic finishing...

Another sock drawer discovery, this is a Sunset Models M-Class, doyen of the Abingdon Branch (told you that there was a GWR connection) It currently awaits a decoder and a decision whether to reduce the scenery on Beaminster Road to firewood and to build the Antioch branch*.
Tim
*A homage to Damascus on the aforesaid Abingdon branch, Antioch is the name of a farm in North Dorset.
