Incredibly neat job removing the top feed and associated pipe work, Paul, plus the other mods. Presumably you removed the main hand rail when removing the pipe work near the cab?

Also, where did you source the glazing, please (or was it a DIY cut-it-to-size job)?

'Shelfie', (Wharfedale Road) is going to Warley, and Manchester as late additions this year. At Warley it'll be on the Model Rail stand, and will have the Model Rail/Bachmann 4mm scale USA Dock tanks working, and at Manchester we'll be running a mix of era's BR steam through to Sectorisation.

Today spent running the engineering prototypes for Model Rail's L/E 4mm USRA dock tank on shelfie. All worked well, I think they'll be popular from 'the crowds' reaction

Very likely to be a one off, I've arranged with Alex Hall, Derby show manager, for Albion Yard to come out of retirement for this years show at the roundhouse, 7/8th May. It looks like being a good cross section of eras and scales, and the roundhouse is an excellent venue. I'll likely have both DC and DCC sound over the two days.

Wouldn't take much time, money or effort to convert it to 'EM' Paul, go on, you know it makes sense

I've got the bits in stock, but to do a OO upgrade, the chassis/drive not being as good as the 37/57/87 varieties. If I did it to EM I'd have nowhere to run it, Bawdsey only coming out very infrequently.

You could always buy another for Bawdsey

My 64XX was bought in damaged condition, the wheels having slipped on their axles, which didn't exactly do the coupling rods any favours.
But with new Gibson drivers, crankpins and coupling rods I've ended up with a smooth running chassis, not as quiet as my 57, but just as controllable.

Thanks John, its nice to try and make something look as good as I can. The OO track for me 'lets it down' visually which is why Shelfie, Albion Yard and the new layouts are all at a relatively high track level of 55 inches, which does quite a bit to disguise the narrow gauge once weathered and scenicked. As far as the image goes its a simple shot put through Googles Picassa to make it B&W, the 52xx has had a little work to it including the Brassmasters kit and other body detailing to give it a bit more presence.

The 52's were part of the Design Clever period that Hornby had a few years ago, and some bits of it worked very well indeed despite much wringing of hands and hyperventilating in some corners. The bits I changed were likely to have been changed anyway and weren't related to the design clever ethos as such.
