I actively detest Facebook. I was dragged into it twice, but I've escaped twice - the last time for good. Let's not even mention the latest shenanigans with the "tech bros" across the Atlantic.

I mean, why not start an open forum like Western Thunder to let people share this stuff? Why use a locked-in closed (and increasingly closed-minded) garden? It might be easy to set up, and I suspect there'll be loads of folk who'll trot along and join in, but sharing art like this shouldn't be so restricted.

I am disappointed.

I wonder if there is an assumption by users that a Facebook public page or group can be seen by the public - as in not signed up to FB.
Not so - your access duration is progressively reduced until it becomes effectively blocked.

Those of you who can see it, do feel free to share on here (perhaps with the modeller's permission? ). Thanks!

Edit: Scrub that - I did manage to (momentarily) get onto the front page and notice it is a private group, so content is not intended for a wider audience.

The house in the scene is built from parts in parts a laser-cut GER station kit.

I'm on several FB 'groups because of my interest in vintage buses and the USA steam scene, so this guy (for one) finds FB quite absorbing.

You have to sign up to WT or else you don’t get to see certain forums or big pictures.

It’s a sign of the times, sign up or loose out, of course it’s up to the individual to decide if it’s actually a loss or not.

There are free FB pages but they tend to fill up with spam and adverts hence owners requesting you to join.

I think there’s a difference between WT and a commercial enterprise with an annual turnover exceeding that of several sovereign nations (unless, of course, Adrian’s not telling us something :)) )

I am a member of one of the groups Facebook and the US Govt are actively targeting. I REALLY want WT to stay facebook free. I understand it isn't my site, and they're not my rules, but a "welcoming" environment here for me means "Free from links to a place that openly allows calling me mentally ill".
