only the primer was from a rattle can, a big learning curve for me using acrilics.

I know what you mean but since discovering Vallejo acrylics and their primers I won't be bothering with rattle cans again once I have used what I have in stock. The biggest challenge is finding "railway" colours but that's the same with Humbrol.

I will continue to use enamels for lining though:thumbs:

I have used acrylics for weathering in the past, but will look into railway colurs suitable for departmental stock.

I would have to say I wouldn't have sprayed the Tilly either. War surplus kit like this was cheap, and if it was repainted it was often with a 4in brush straight from the tin. :)
