7mm Bamfylde- Tinkering in 7mm

I’m not sure that the interior wood would still be brown/cream, Rob, rather than silvery-grey aged wood to be co-incident with the rust streaks from the bolt heads. Indeed, recollecting the wooden trailers I grew up with on a farm, the interior bolt heads seldom produced red rust stains in the hard wood, more usually dark rust stains. However, if that is based on a colour photo I would be very happy to be proved wrong - it does look interesting.

Thanks Tim.

Not looking to prove anyone wrong. Life's too short. No reference was made to colour photos. This is my take based on the colouring of the wagon as supplied and was really done to see what I could do with a basic palette of weathering powders.

Afternoon all,

Well, after eighteen months there MAY be some movement in a 7mm direction but it certainly won't be the kind of movement that could be considered rapid.

However, in between the 4mm stuff, I hope to quietly build up enough bits and bobs to put this little project together.

I'm off to a good start. I've recently acquired some pointwork and other bits and bobs from the estate of the late Grahame Hitchen and this provides a bit of a flying start along with baseboards which Grahame intended to form his 7mm project.

Space is a big issue for me and this project will be very much the diorama and perhaps not quite the project that Grahame was putting together. However, I do hope to produce something which Grahame, skilled modeller that he was, would approve of.

And in the process, I hope to learn a bit about 7mm modelling and if nothing else end up with a display piece for some carefully chosen 7mm stock.

Updates will follow.

Good to hear Rob, did see the 7mm stuff on the BG man’s Bazaar stall at SWAG in Taunton last weekend.
While I was buying other stuff!
Looking forward to what your up to.
Was the baseboard the item on top the free stuff with donations about 4ft long 300mm one end and 75mm the other end? Thought it was a 7mm platform looking at it bare bones.
Cheers
