Hi Scott
Is that the late Sam Bonwell's old layout that your 04 is on? Lovely model who is custodian of the layout now if I may ask?
Best wishes for Christmas

Does Emwell ever go out to exhibitions? The only picture I have is this scanned view of an unknown E.Anglian layout at an exhibition in Essex in the early eighties. The vertical cassette system is in background if you look closely!
Cheers

Julian,
I'll take that as a compliment. Oh, sorry. You meant the one in the background is Emwell......
The "unidentified" layout is "Salcott" in OO by yours truely.
It had one very hectic exhibition year (1987?) and was then sold on (bad move in retrospect but I was supposed to be going 7mm.....)
The Essex show was probably the Mid Essex in Brentwood/Shenfield - not sure exactly where they were then.
About 9ft by 18 inches plus FY (traintable or sectorplate - can't remember), SMP track and copperclad points.
The vans look like they have DG couplings so they are probably Martin Stringer's (Tollesbury - O gauge with the tide going out).
That is the best photo I have of the layout.

I had care of Emwell for a while before Brendan, somewhere I have a few piccies, will try and dig them out.
Thank You.
Rob

Compliment meant and thank you for solving this mystery. You are most welcome Rob as I was very impressed by the layout and I agree that it was a Mid Essex MRC show about then. If you go to "The sheep chronicles...." page 53 post 1060 11/9/2021 you will find I posted the four photos I had taken on an SLR at that time. I did ask if anyone knew of this layout, but the main reason for posting was in the conversations with Rob (sheep bloke!) on East Anglian themes.

Would two members caught in the photo constitute a "meeting" of the SSMRS?! I am sure that is the late Sam in the background. I seemed to have cropped you a bit!

I wondered what happened to Salcott? What a small world! And I must apologise for deviating this thread but it is in the interest of S Scale!

All the best for 2023

Rob, thank you for these photos, a lovely model. Maybe we can persuade Brendan to set up a new thread for this olden? Can never have too much S Scale can we!

Dave...thank you but I haven't a clue how to set up link! Is there a thread on this in the forum information introduction please? I did browse the threads but the one by Adrian suggests right click on #number but I use an I Pad?

Sorry Phil I seem to have hijacked your original thread but at least it is still S Scale.

All the best

Julian
