4mm Dublingham Goods Station - wagon control

Having had a Dublo 4MT tank brewing for some time now with a nice set of Romfords, maybe I can justify one on Dublingham. I've not seen any pics before of 4MT tanks on freight turns, certainly I could justify it on the parcels working, possibly even the the milk train too???

I suspect that says more about the habits of photographers: a relatively lower status loco on unfashionable work. Why not, they're handsome locos and the Dublo model has a real presence, I've always thought.

Well that's it folks for 2024, last show for Dublingham. Excellent show, very well organised and lots to see. I also met @Alan too, which was great to meet the man behind Blackney! I also met Barry Norman too, he was operating the layout behind me.

I also finally succumbed to placing my type 1 on the vintage racetrack layout and was pleased to see it was only drawing 1/4 amp, but because it's been regeared wouldn't go anywhere near as fast the Deltic seen in passing below.

A recent eBay find and purchase was this 2-6-4T. It appears to be a Wrenn 4MT with Crownline detailing parts, valve gear and Romford wheels, it even has brake gear. The tank and footplate lining is actually hand done with a bow pen, it was done so well I assumed it was transfers at first.

So next, it's dismantling to convert to three rail, change the couplings to proper Dublo ones, replace the rail based coupling rods and maybe renumber.

The next show is at Pecorama on the 16th August.

I've been working on lots of detail parts to try and make the layout look less clinical, which has been a comment at some shows. First batch of "goods" for the rear warehouse is here, various Peco and Airfix items, painted using the usual techniques. More general items to go around the layout have been primered ready for similar treatment.

A nice weekend was had at the Spa Valley show, interesting being held in the loco shed, which meant it wasn't entirely waterproof and a tarp had to be procured for the overnight stay. The smells and sounds of real steam made it almost a DCC sound experience! Nice to meet @chigley at the show too, always good to meet a fellow Thunderer!

Interesting to chat to the S scale owners of Lockbourne Ohio, they were on tour from the USA and built the layout from 12mm Gatorboard, which meant it is flyweight and can be packed into flight cases! Amazing to see such a large layout that can fly!

Did I not see you at Spalding last year. I didn't see their badge, do they not give them out
.
You certainly did Alan, the Spalding badge is the oval silver one bottom right. It's a huge lump of laser cut steel with two holes that needed screws to hold it on!
