I saw this lovely layout at Doncaster over the weekend. It is as good in the flesh as it is in the photos and it operates brilliantly too!

Thanks for the comments chaps, and thanks to anyone who came and said hi over the weekend! It was a fantastic show, probably one of the most enjoyable I've done. The layout ran flawlessly across both days and is good fun to operate.

Having seen on Saturday the vast array of locos you already have, I'm sure a couple more won't go amiss.... particularly after you have weathered them.

No major changes have been made to the layout since the last few posts, the only thing I have done after Neepsend is to cut the downspout short on the sticky-outy building to the left of the scaffolding. This was just catching on a few locos, and has actually freed up enough space for a Class 20 to negotiate the curve. Although the ensuing bufferlock is another matter 
I did treat myself to a Model Rail/Dapol Sentinel Y1 yesterday as they're currently down to £69 on the Model Rail Offers site (£70 being around my almost-instant-buy cutoff point for most locos!) I think that should look rather nice pottering around the layout.
My other significant project at the mo is looking into getting the Oxford Shunting Tractor to 'work'. It won't be motorised of course, but my plan is to motorise a boxvan using an N20 geared motor which will push/pull the tractor around. Some basic (sort-of) hidden 3d printed flanges behind the tractor wheels, and replacement free-running axles shows promise. I've also printed my own version of the tractor superstructure to allow the addition of some weight boxes on each end to help keep the thing on track, plus drawbars for couplings.

A few more gratuitous shots from the Bakewell exhibition. The layout ran brilliantly over the weekend, and is fast becoming my favourite to operate. I suspect its next outing will possibly be our club exhibition in Sheffield on the 24th-25th October, so I can have a bit of a rest after a busy month! After that it has invites in 2027 to Keighley in Feb and Immingham in May.

I'm just catching up with your thread, fantastic layout and full of industrial atmosphere, I like the way yo can run a range of stock on there. I love the inset track, you said it was tile grout, was it really difficult to get stuff running after gouging out the running lines, are they normal rtr wheels on the stock?
