Gladiator 7mm Duchess

As far as I am concerned your Duchess has the indisputable look of a proper Duchess,
The Gladiator kit was the first 7mm kit I built which my very good pal presented to me with can you build this for me!
It was a voyage of discovery which led me to sell off all 4mm locos etc (mainly kit built) and started once I had built this
loco on purchasing 7mm kits which looking back now was the best thing model wise to have done.
And yes it was a learning curve but he could not have picked a better kit and loco than the Gladiator it was so enjoyable on looking back
now I would maybe have done some of the build slightly differently but it still looks as it should since then I have built up more tools.
Anyway well done Peter on the build .

A bit late in the day, but thanks to Donald for the kind words.

I had a trip over to the Keighley MRC open day with the Duchess to give it a buzz around their test track. I'm pleased with its performance but it will need more weight to be able to pull a prototype length train which I will add.

The guys on the Coverdale layout allowed me to take some photos, so thanks to them also. It's nice to see it in a realistic setting which shows off Warren Haywood's superb paint job.

I think it needs a light weathering at some point, but at the moment I can't bring myself to do it.

Cheers,
Peter

Very nice. Makes the midland single look rather petite.

Many thanks Peter.

Yeah, but that's just a red kettle, not a real loco.;)

Only joking chaps. It is of course a Midland railway layout, so the Duchess was only out of period, not out of place.

I've got some lead shot on order to put in the boiler, so next time I have a chance to run it somewhere, I can try it with some coaches.

Cheers,
Peter
