Hi
My name is Graeme Lewis and I currently live in Brisbane, Australia. A friend introduced me to this website and it is certainly inspirational.
My own interest is in 7mm scale and the Midland Railway, circa 1907. For a second generation Australian who grew up on the northern breaches of Sydney in the 60 and 70's this may seem odd, but this is what happens when you read all the available copies of Model Railway News in the local library. I also owe David White at Slaters a debt of gratitude as their kits converted me to 7mm in the late 70's.
My layout in Brisbane is called the "Ashworth Branch" and is notionally, but not accurately, based around Huddersfield and Dewsbury. A few snaps are attached below. It is located in a purpose built room 6.7m x 4.3m. In this space I have a terminus to fiddle yard layout plus a minor twig with a running length of nearly 30m. It still has a lot of work to be done on it but is very enjoyable to operate.
I am also fortunate that we have a second house in northern NSW where I have a very nice train room some 22m x 6.4m. I am doing my best to fill this with a layout based (very loosely) on the MR Ancoats Branch but with a passenger service. This layout has been under construction for ~2 years now and I am about 30% through building the track - scratch building 200m of track is a slow process. I attach a photo showing a little of the track at Ashton Old Road, which is the main junction on the layout.
Regards
Graeme
