Hi Phill,

I'm doing my best.

You could always use the Slaters stuff on the inner skin where it won't been seen that much. I've drawn up my own blockwork bond for the inner skin and will try printing it out onto plasticard - once I've finished the outer sheeting.

cheers

Totally agree about the slaters brick. I used finecast before I started lasering stuff, the correct bonding of brickwork is one of my little OCD problems  :))

I think I'll try the Finecast version on a small building and then decide what to use or even do about the retaining wall all along the back of the layout - all 16' of it

cheers

Another very happy user of Finecast here, albeit G1. Perfect register however I have cut and joined it, very good stuff.

Nice shed!

Hi Simon,

sorry for not replying sooner, but your post arrived as I was compiling my reply to Cynric and I needed to get on with a repair job for a club member so that he could have his coach back this evening. Anyway, repair done and back to normal.

I have had quite a number of similar responses regarding the Finescale offerings on my other thread, so I am keen to get my hands on some. I've not really got into plastic in the past so this is all quite new to me.

Glad you like the 'shed', I'm just starting the cladding panels and have discovered that I need to adjust my design slightly, so no progress photos at present.

I took delivery of one of Maplins 'fume extractors' yesterday, and after my crude but effective 'candle test' to determine how far away from the work piece the 'suction' started, it was out with the EMA Plastic Weld and so far, no reaction with the nose :D :D :D

Mike,
Hope you don't mind me asking, but did you find that the symptoms you were getting were like a common cold ?

Hi Col,

the very same :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: so I'm hoping that this little Maplin gizmo does the trick.

Thanks Mike,

I think I'll be purchasing an extractor, I've been thinking about it for too long know and I think also with the amount of time I'm soldering aswell( iron's never cold :))) it'll be wise. Trouble is that you can get so used to the smell of vapours etc. you forget your breathing it all in. :headbang:

ATB, Col...happy brick laying

Hi Col,

I think that it will be a good £20 well spent.

I'm warming the pointing trowel up even as I type this ;) ;) ;)

cheers

thanks for responding to CME while I was on my lunch break, much appreciated.
Lunch break is when I am most likely to be on: hope I wasn't treading on your toes...

A friend uses one of these when he is soldering: does make a difference, he tells me.
Would such a device mean you could go back to soldering?
