What were they painting? Wouldn't have been rolling stock - we either airless sprayed it or if hand applied (as it was at times) they used expensive sable brushes - cost an absolute fortune and much treasured by the painters (and the tea leaves)!

Marsa - you might joke but there was a fair old amount of the 3M transfers used over the years that never saw a rail vehicle!
