Apologies for an entry relating to a mere local show, rather than a specialist gauge society event, a finescale event or a "biggy", but it's a friendly and inexpensive event to visit which has consistently featured some good layouts in its short history so far. If it's convenient for you to get there, please give it try:

I thought it only fair to do my bit to publicise a show whose manager has been kind enough to invite my own layout for its baptism of fire. LNER 1930s in Lincolnshire theme. OO gauge, with much of the stock either hand-built or significantly modified by me, rather than just tipped out of a red or blue box.
Four or five of us will be trying not to make a complete mess of operating it convincingly in front of the public...

Fuller details of the show on UKModelshops events pages.

I think you'll find that WT is very supportive of the smaller shows. They're often the best to attend and can offer the opportunity to actually see the exhibits, chat to the exhibitors and normally provide good value for money in terms of catering etc.

I'm glad to hear that others on here see the value of local shows and support them, or perhaps the good ones at least. I know they are not all of the same calibre.

I'm going to be one or the four/five hoping not to make a mess of it....thankful for the invite to play

Looking at the list of other exhibitors it looks like a very good show. Some good trade too, hoping to get some time off to go shopping

I try to get to as many of the Lincolnshire shows as I can but never ticked this relatively new show off

Please do stop by and say hello if you do attend

A very enjoyable and largely snag-free first exhibition with Thelnerby, if almost inevitably rather tiring. Big thanks are due to show manager Steve Richards and his volunteer assistants for inviting me, also to all of those who provided ideas and information before/during the construction of the layout, and not least to friends who helped with the long job to set up the layout, to operate it, to take it down again and to get it out of the hall and back home at the end in the necessary quick time.
A good show in so many ways, well received by the public - by the look of those who visited.

This year's event 9th & 10th May. Fuller details to follow shortly but for those sharing my own interest in matters LNER, this year's show includes Lincoln MRC's 1930s Five Mile House and Immingham Museum's usual resident Immingham Loco Depot steam era depiction.
